# How Supply-Only Trade and Commercial Aluminium Fabrication Works — and Why We Never Install

Kingsland fabricates and supplies aluminium but does not install it. We supply installers, shopfitters, glaziers, maintenance and main contractors, plus facilities, property and project teams using an appointed contractor for the fit.

If you have ever wondered what "supply-only" actually buys you, where a fabricator's job ends and yours begins, or why a fabricator that never fits is a safer partner than one who does — this page answers it.

## What "supply-only" and "trade and commercial" actually mean

A **supply-only** aluminium fabricator manufactures the doors, windows, shopfronts, curtain walling and louvre panels — and stops there. We cut, machine, assemble, check and deliver the fabricated order to the agreed scope for the customer's own installation team or appointed contractor to fit. We never send a fitting team to site.

**Trade and commercial supply** means we supply organisations purchasing for business or project use. That includes installers and contractors as well as facilities, property, procurement and project teams. We quote the named buyer and fabricate to the agreed specification; if that buyer is client-side, their appointed contractor installs.

A **fabricator-installer** both makes the product and fits it. For an installer or contractor, that supplier also operates in the installation market. Kingsland only fabricates and supplies; it does not quote or carry out installation.

In one line: **we fabricate and check it; your installation team or appointed contractor fits it.** When a contractor introduces the job, the customer relationship remains theirs.

## From enquiry to delivery

The steps below show how an order moves from the first enquiry to dispatch, and where Kingsland’s work ends before the customer’s installer takes over.

1

### Enquiry

The named trade or commercial buyer sends sizes, quantities, a survey, drawings or a sketch with a delivery postcode. Contractor-introduced customer relationships remain with the contractor.

2

### Quotation + CAD

We prepare a trade quotation, with CAD drawings for sign-off where the job needs them. The drawing is the contract: what you approve is what gets cut.

3

### Engineering

Confirmed dimensions are engineered in LogiKal® and EluCAD®, turning the approved drawing into a cutting and machining programme.

4

### CNC cut & punch

Profiles are cut and punched on Elumatec CNC machinery against that programme — not by hand, not by eye.

5

### Fabrication

Sections are assembled on Jack Aluminium and compatible system platforms into doors, windows, shopfronts, curtain walling or louvre panels.

6

### Workshop function-check

Every swing door is assembled and function-checked on the workshop jig against your approved dimensions and hardware schedule before it leaves Warrington. This is fabrication QC, not standards or certification testing.

7

### Palletised order, labelled

The fabricated order is wrapped complete, with beads, gaskets and fixings included where specified, and labelled by opening reference so site handling is straightforward.

8

### Delivered across mainland Britain

Pallets go out from Warrington to anywhere in mainland Britain. That is where our responsibility ends.

9

### Installation and commissioning

The buyer’s installation team or appointed contractor offers the fabrication into the opening, fixes it, glazes where supplied loose, sets the hardware and commissions on site. Kingsland does not undertake this work.

### Where our responsibility ends — precisely

Our responsibility covers fabricating and checking the supplied order against the approved information, then preparing it for the collection or delivery arrangement stated on the quotation. The quotation and approved detail confirm the dimensions, hardware, beads, gaskets, fixings, glazing, loose items, labelling and palletisation included. Swing doors are assembled and function-checked on the workshop jig before dispatch as fabrication QC, not standards or certification testing.

The customer and appointed installation team are responsible for the site survey, structural opening, substrate fixings, levelling and packing, on-site glazing where supplied loose, commissioning, perimeter weatherproofing and handover. If the supplied product and opening do not match, compare the survey, approved information, fabricated measurements and handling evidence; the applicable order terms establish the cause and remedy.

## Why never installing is the point, not a limitation

For an installer or contractor, a fabricator that also installs is active in the same fitting market. Drawings, sizes and client details are being shared with a business that can quote for the installation as well as the fabrication.

Most fabricator-installers are perfectly honest, but the overlap remains. Kingsland removes it by not pricing installation, holding installation contracts or using contractor-introduced project information to compete for the fit.

Because we never install, **we do not compete for the fit or the installation margin.** If an installer or contractor introduces the job, we deal through that buyer and leave the client relationship with them.

Facilities, property and project teams can also buy fabrication directly. Their appointed contractor surveys and installs.

## Who it's for — and what lands on the pallet

### Who buys this way

- • Aluminium and glazing installers working on new-build and refurbishment projects
- • Shopfitters and fit-out contractors needing coordinated shopfronts
- • Glaziers replacing failed commercial doors and screens
- • Main contractors buying curtain walling and entrance screens for their own team or appointed subcontractor to fit
- • Maintenance contractors ordering like-for-like replacements
- • Facilities, property and project teams buying for an appointed contractor to install

### What the fabricated order includes

- • Fabricated frames and leaves to your signed CAD
- • Beads, gaskets and fixings — in the box, not billed separately
- • The specified hardware schedule fitted or supplied to fit
- • Glass supplied or coordinated to the build-up you quoted
- • Opening-reference labelling and pallet sequence where agreed

The product range spans commercial entrance doors, shopfront doors, thermally broken entrance doors, windows, curtain walling and louvre panel doors — all supplied the same supply-only way.

## Straight answers to the questions we get

### Do you supply the automatic operator?

No. We supply the frame only. The suitable sliding arrangement and frame preparation are assessed from the named operator and complete powered-door specification supplied by your automation specialist; do not assume a universal single-slide, bi-parting or breakout arrangement. Tell us the operator make, model and specialist interface requirements at quote stage. Your automation specialist supplies, installs and commissions the drive gear, sensors and controls.

### Can you match an existing system?

Often, yes — especially on replacement work where the existing frame stays and only a leaf or section is failing. We fabricate on Jack Aluminium and compatible system platforms, so where the existing profile is one we can match or interface with, we will. Send photos, sightline measurements and any system markings with the survey. If a true like-for-like is not possible, we will tell you that on the quote rather than after manufacture. Our primer on Jack Aluminium systems compatibility covers what to capture.

### What's the lead time?

Allow approximately 21 working days for general planning. The quotation confirms the current lead time, its start point, the exact date and any product- or specification-specific exceptions. See replacement aluminium for maintenance contractors for the survey and order information that helps us price the work clearly.

### Do you deliver?

Yes — palletised, from Warrington to anywhere in mainland Britain, labelled by opening reference. Customers near our Warrington workshop can also collect. What we do not do is turn up to fit it: the customer's installation team or appointed contractor takes over on site.

### Will you ever quote my end client directly?

We do not approach or quote an end client behind an installer or contractor who introduced the job. Facilities, property and project teams may enquire as the named commercial buyer, but they must appoint a contractor for installation.
