About the JD47 System

The JD47 is a non-thermal aluminium shopfront door system designed for retail, commercial, and hospitality applications where maximum glazing area and slim sightlines are the priority. With a 47mm frame depth and 50mm sightlines, the JD47 keeps frame profiles to a minimum so your client's frontage stays visually open. The system accepts glazing from 6mm single panes up to 28mm sealed units, making it suitable for everything from simple display windows to double-glazed shop entrances. Four header bar options cover both standard manual doors and automatic operator integration, so you can use the same system across an entire shopfront scheme — including curtain walling tie-ins. We fabricate JD47 shopfront doors with integral external beading for improved security, anti-finger trap profiles where specified, and a slim pocket channel option for narrow doorways. Every door is jig-tested in our Warrington workshop, glazed and beaded, then delivered as a complete kit ready to fit on site.

What glazing thickness can the JD47 shopfront door accept?
The JD47 door profile accepts glass from 6mm to 28mm, with a 22mm glazing bead height. This covers single glazed shopfronts through to 28mm double-glazed sealed units.
Can JD47 shopfront doors be used with automatic operators?
Yes. The JD47 system includes four header bar solutions designed for both standard manual doors and automatic sliding or swing operators. We fabricate the aluminium frames to your operator specifications — your installer fits the automation on site.
Do shopfront doors integrate with curtain walling?
Yes. The JD47 is designed to integrate directly with our JCW curtain walling system, so you can run a continuous shopfront scheme with doors, fixed glazing, and signage zones all from compatible Jack Aluminium profiles.
What threshold options are available for shop front doors?
Three threshold options: 100mm standard, 150mm raised, or a drained threshold for exposed positions. Your specification determines which is fabricated — we can advise if you are unsure.
Are aluminium shopfront doors supplied as complete kits?
Yes. Every JD47 shopfront door leaves our workshop glazed, beaded, and complete with all fixings, gaskets, and hardware. Doors are jig-tested to your specification, labelled by opening reference, and wrapped for transit. Ready to fit on site with no additional parts to source.
What colours are available for shopfront doors?
The full RAL colour range is available as a polyester powder coat finish. Standard RAL colours are typically ready within our standard lead time. Dual-colour or special finishes may require additional time — we will confirm when quoting.
